Overview
LCT is a cannabis retailer in California that sells and delivers across the state. It had no online platform where customers could shop and buy on their own. Part of the reason was compliance: before anyone could buy, the business had to confirm whether they were a recreational or a medical customer, since a medical recommendation allows higher-concentration cannabis. There was also no mobile app, and no way to track a delivery once it left the store.
The goal was a centralized platform, for mobile and desktop, where customers could create an account, verify their own information, and shop for themselves. It would bring all in-stock products into one place with their details and specifications, show each person the products they were cleared to buy, and let them order in a few taps and track delivery in real time.
The Challenge
The design had to give customers a clear, trustworthy way to shop and follow their order. The platform needed:
- A centralized catalog that shows all in-stock products in one place, each with its details and specifications
- A required account with verified information, so each customer can buy on their own and see only what they are allowed to, recreational or higher-concentration medical products
- An ordering and checkout flow that works the same on mobile and desktop
- Real-time delivery tracking, with a live map of the driver on the way
- Account management for saved addresses, profile, and order history
My Role
During the design of the platform, I was responsible for:
- Designing the full platform across mobile and desktop: information architecture and user flows, account creation and verification (recreational and medical eligibility), catalog and search, cart and checkout, order tracking with the live driver map, account management, and loyalty and rewards
- Building a responsive visual system that works across mobile and desktop, and interactive prototypes
